DESIGN FOR ALL AND REHABILITATION

Paulo Fontán and Miguel Ferreira are two good examples of improvement in front of a cord injury. The first one studies Social Sciences in Pontevedra, the second one has finished secondary school and every no and then is registered in vocational training courses. Both them are wheelchair users, though Miguel, for having an incomplete injury, can walk with a crutch.
Paulo Fontán considers architectonic barriers as the main obstacle to carry out a completely normal life. In barrier-free spaces, he develops his daily activities with no problem. In his opinion, in spite of the existence of accessibility laws, the

architects and builders should plan buildings taking into account “design for all” tendencies, which would result in more functional spaces.

Miguel Ferreira, client of COGAMI, highlights the importance of being constant with the rehabilitation and physical exercise, as in his situation the lack of gymnastics makes movement capacity decrease.Increasing strength and mobility makes functionality increase proportionally, and that is why it generates a persistent state of mind.
